Who says fast food can’t provide tasty, quick and convenient snacks that are actually good for you? If you’re stuck in your car for too many hours and desperately need a snack, start with a sugar free drink – you might just be thirsty. If that doesn’t work, pull into McDonald’s and order up the Apple Dippers. For about a dollar, you’ll get a crispy, sweet, peeled and sliced apple, ready to eat, with only 35 calories and loads of vitamins. Even if you give in and eat the low-fat caramel dip, you’ll only add 70 calories and half a gram of fat.
Or, if you can pull over to enjoy your snack, order a side salad for 20 calories and a packet of Newman’s Own Low Fat Balsamic Vinaigrette for just 40 calories. According to the company’s website, the salad mix includes: Iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, spring mix (may contain baby red romaine, baby green romaine, baby red leaf, baby green leaf, baby red Swiss chard, baby red oak, baby green oak, lolla rosa, tango, tatsoi, arugula, mizuna, radicchio, frisee), carrots. Grape tomatoes.
HINT: Order both the apple and the salad and combine. Top with balsamic dressing for a delicious gourmet snack.
