After a vicious summer storm and a very long commute home, I decided that tonight was the perfect night to celebrate the tradition of a quick, satisfying dinner.
When traveling last week, I enjoyed an afternoon tasting and talking at Frali Gourmet in Savannah, Georgia, where owners Franco and Lisa Marra invite the taste of Italy into our homes with fresh pastas, marinated vegetables, and homemade sauces. I stocked my pantry with three shopping bags of fresh products from this delightful Italian kitchen, and I’ll be cooking with each item in the weeks to come. We’ll also be talking more with Franco and Lisa.
Tonight, I added to the pasta a handful of kalamata olives, grape tomatoes, ciliegine mozzarella, and freshly grated Parmesan Reggiano. With a sprig of fresh basil, dinner was ready in less than 15 minutes – and quite delicious.
And that’s the perfect end to a long day!
