Though this post isn’t about a specific culinary treat, I am in love with the art in this exhibit called “Ambitious Beast.” And art feeds the soul, right? And we all need to feast on beauty.
AMBITIOUS BEAST is a group exhibition through April 3 at Kai Lin Art in Atlanta featuring Ashley L. Schick, Elliston Roshi, Christopher Stevens, Jeremy Brown, Tom Haney, Lisa Hart, Patrick Heagney, Wen Lin, Jonny Warren, Augusta Wilson, Inkyeong Baek, Jaeyoun Shin, and Larry Jens Anderson.
Here’s one that caught my eye by artist Christopher Stevens. The Swallows Cafe – it has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? In his personal statement, Stevens recalls, “I imagined living in this world from the stories that were told, the Kodachrome photographs and slides that were dug out of old dusty boxes. I still remember the hum and click as each slide advanced and projected images of cars, parades and vacations onto the wall and into my mind. The majority of my subject matter is of local towns and candid views from Main Street. I want to capture the daily routines of mid-century Americans as they progress through their lives. It is my intention to honor these people and images of times gone by through deliberate and painstaking detail, elevating that which was mundane to the monumental.”
Christopher Stevens currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his BFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He works and attends the Savannah College of Art and Design where he is currently completing his MFA in Painting. This is the first exhibition of his works in Atlanta.
Let’s support this rising star in the art world.
