Every year at the holidays, I make my own flavored vodkas to give as gifts and serve to friends and family at gatherings. The hands-down favorite is always the classic cranberry vodka. Start with sugar syrup, add crushed cranberries and vodka, and begin the slow steep to syrupy perfection.
But summer calls for a different twist on this spirit tradition. With strawberries at their peak of sweet perfection and mint in abundance in gardens everywhere, my thoughts started wandering toward a refreshing vodka that could be blended with crushed ice and served in a beautiful glass with a sugared strawberry on top.
Enter strawberry mint vodka.
After a few weeks of steeping the mixture in the refrigerator and shaking it every few days to blend the flavors we’ll know how this creation tastes.
More to come.
