When it’s a rainy day at the beach and lightning bolts are striking the water beyond the window, one definitely needs a dose of comfort food.
The best thing to indulge in on a stormy day is a hot bowl of chowder, and at The Spouter Inn with my new friend Ann, I did just that. The classic New England style clam chowder was smooth and creamy and chock full of tender clams and vegetables. For a main course, I indulged in a warm goat cheese salad of mixed greens with ripe grape tomatoes and cilantro-citrus dressing, topped by honey roasted walnuts. Delicious!
On a sunny day, I can only imagine how lovely this spot would be to sit outside and enjoy the ocean view. For me, the rainstorm offered a dramatic backdrop to a great meal.
