We all experience singular moments of taste sensations so powerful that nothing seems to live up to that memory. I am convinced that I will never again have French toast as delicious as I did last week at Baker’s Kitchen in New Bern. The secret is the butter syrup, folks. It’s absolutely fantastic.
Wow. That’s about all I can say. The French toast is supremely rich and custardy (without being soggy), crisped at the edges and topped by a positively addictive butter syrup. Baker’s Kitchen Signature French Toast needs to be put on your personal culinary bucket list. You’ll get “three thick slices cut from our own Baker’s Loaf served with homemade butter syrup. ”
The Bengel family launched the new Baker’s Kitchen in February 2012 and have earned high praise and loyal fans. I’ll have to admit I’m haunted by the flavor of the delectable butter syrup, but the family closely guards their incredible secret recipe. I can’t wait for it to be bottled so I can enjoy it at home in Atlanta. When that happens, I’ll be sure to let you all know!
If you’re not a French Toast fan, take heart. You can opt for grilled homemade cinnamon buns or any number of savory treats. Even with a full lunch menu, Baker’s Kitchen serves breakfast all day.
