In the coastal arts village of Mendocino, CA, you’ll find scores of cute cafes and galleries. If you’re looking to stock your picnic basket, stop by Harvest at Mendosa’s on Lansing Street.
Harvest Market is part traditional grocery and part organic produce stand with a green business twist. Inside, you’ll find an admirable deli and bakery counters plus a wonderful cheese section. Have sandwiches made to order, then pick up a bottle of your favorite Napa wine and a creamy wheel of Mt. Tam from Cowgirl Creamery or a log of exquisite chevre by Laura Chenel. The olive and antipasti bars are excellent, as is the Best of Harvest case that offers seasonal entrees and sides.
Besides the delectables we picked up, here’s my great discovery from the market’s freezer section: ice packaged in 3 pound bags. Absolutely perfect for the day’s picnic cooler!
