Tucked into a confection-colored shop on Campbell’s main street, Frost Cupcake Factory is a downright yummy place. With neat display cases of handmade cupcakes ready to tempt you as you walk through the double doors, the new bakery is where you’ll want to sit and stay awhile. And let me tell you, after tasting one of Andrea Parks’s sweet frosted treats, you’ll be hooked. I am.
With daily specials and a rotating variety of more than two dozen flavors like Tahitian vanilla, chocolate paradise, mocha java and s’mores please, customers will find a cupcake to suit their taste. Correction: they’ll discover many tastes to fall in love with.
On this breezy summer day, I’ve set my sights on the rose velvet cupcake with a beautiful swirl of cream cheese frosting. Break into it and you discover a moist, rich cake with just the right amount of crumb. Not too dense, not too light – simply perfect. The frosting is just sweet enough to satisfy a delicious sugar craving with a light touch that doesn’t overpower. I can’t wait to try the other flavors I’m taking home!
Open since July 1, the shop is quickly gaining a reputation as a favorite with locals. After an abrupt halt to her corporate sales and marketing career for a leading beverage company, owner Andrea Parks found herself facing a major career move. A self-taught baker, she recalls, “I started baking for friends and family, and the calls for my cupcakes began to pour in. When I got my first inquiry for 1000 cupcakes, I knew. One thing led to another, a great retail shop opened up, and four months later we launched Frost Cupcake Factory in Campbell. We’ve had such incredible support from everyone. It’s been absolutely amazing.”
The bakery is bright, cheerful and welcoming, with a kids-only table and toy area. Bistro seating is available indoors and out,
as well as a comfortable conversation area. “I wanted to create a place where moms can feel comfortable bringing their kids in for a snack while they share a coffee with friends.”
Frost Cupcake Factory will custom-make cupcake and cake combination wedding displays. They also tackle special orders for everything from corporate sweets to birthday party favors. Check out the cupcake in a jar – great idea!
Andrea’s warm, sunny disposition is a delight. When you meet this tenacious entrepreneur, you quickly realize you’ve met someone special. And you can be sure . . . I’ll be keeping my eye on the success of Andrea and her Frost Cupcake Factory.
