As you enter the Point Reyes National Seashore and slip into the quaint town of Point Reyes Station, you might come across a local favorite restaurant called Cafe Reyes. Plan to pull over, go inside and stay awhile.
You know I’m all about experiencing food to the fullest, beginning with aroma. When you walk into this family-friendly casual dining spot, the incredible scents of pizzas cooking in the wood fire oven greet you at the door. It’s hard to keep walking past the pizza station where you can watch the master pizzamaker at work. It’s fun – and it might just tempt you to try a new flavor of this favorite meal.
And Cafe Reyes understands its pizza. Having just moved back to the states from Italy, I was dubious – but they did an excellent job and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. You could say Cafe Reyes’ chefs are dedicated to their pizza’s perfection, so much so that they had the amazing wood-burning oven imported from Italy. The results clearly show the finesse of their hand-made technique. Thin, flavorful crusts, seasonal toppings and artisan cheeses – positively delicious whether you prefer vegetarian or meaty.
The menu also offers an assortment of well-balanced salads as well as local oysters and fresh-baked sweets. And plan to end the meal with a cup of their truly tasty shade-grown coffee.
