Oh, the aroma! These sugary, doughy delights were baked by the dozens – right there on the banks of the Thames in London. It was a cold, rainy day, but the chefs whipped up countless poffertjes, common to Holland, in one very cool, very big pan.
The toppings for the sweet treats varied from confectioner’s sugar, chocolate, lemon drizzle and Dutch syrup glaze to dollops of fruit jam. According to these Dutch chefs, their little puffy pancakes are far superior to the Danish variety called ebelskivers!
