It’s a strange looking fruit, more than a bit weird looking and bumpy with a sunset yellow coloring.
When my flavor ambassadors Daniel and Maddie tried to guess, we had no idea what this peculiar fruit might look like on the inside. Imagine the surprise when we cut it open to find a brilliant green fruit filled with soft seeds like those of a cucumber.
The taste was unexpected. Very mild and sweet, with a slightly tangy aftertaste not unlike an orange. In fact, when you attempt to bite a slice, the pulp slides off into your mouth and leaves an orange-like white pith behind.
Odd, a little bit jelly-like but not unpleasant. Not overwhelmingly delicious, either, and not worth the $4 import price.
